5 Fun Engagement Party Ideas

The love of your life popped the question and you said yes, so it’s time to pop the bubbly and celebrate your engagement with your friends and family! So before you plan your wedding ceremony program, here are five fun ideas and themes to get the party started.

  1. Taco ‘Bout Love

Are you a couple who religiously eat tacos every Tuesday? Then a Taco ‘Bout Love engagement fiesta is right down your alley! Set up a taco bar complete with chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso. And make sure you don’t forget the margaritas! Line the tables with bright linens, hang papel picados, play festive music and set up a few pinatas filled with fun wedding-themed treats. If you don’t have room for a taco bar, bring in catering from your favorite Mexican restaurant and let the tequila flow!

  1. Pajama Party

Who doesn’t love lounging around in their pajamas and eating pancakes? Invite your friends and family over to a pajama brunch party! Get flapjacks flipping on the griddle and layout all of the different toppings like fruit, syrup, chocolate, and whipped cream. Make omelets to order and include fresh veggies and cheese. Have fun with a cereal bar and include chocolate milk. Don’t forget to pop the bubbly and serve it with orange juice for a delicious mimosa to compliment your brunch!

  1. I Do Brews

Do you and your partner love to sample the local brews? Then host an I Do Brew party! Serve flights filled with beers and ciders from your local breweries. Add to the fun by serving bite-sized bar foods such as pretzels, nachos, burger sliders, and fries. You can even schedule a tour and tasting at your local brewery. Whatever you choose to serve and drink, make sure to eat, drink and be merry!

  1. Casino Night

Can’t afford to take the I Do Crew to Las Vegas? Bring the casinos to you! Encourage guests to dress in semi-formal attire and break out that poker table! Gold playing cards will help elevate the theme. When guests arrive, hand out play money so they can gamble it away while playing roulette, craps, poker, and blackjack. The last guest with play money gets a prize!

  1. Backyard Bash

An all-American backyard bash is a fun way to celebrate your engagement. Grill up some hotdogs and hamburgers and lay out all of the toppings. Serve ice cold lemonade alongside potato and macaroni salads. For dessert, whip out that apple pie and serve with vanilla ice cream. Rootbeer floats and beer go well, too! Set up games of horseshoes, beanbag toss, and bocce ball. String up some lights and when it gets dark, hand out sparklers and light fireworks (if permitted). A backyard bash is fun for both adults and kids!

Deciding on a theme and executing the party plan is only half the battle — remember that an invitation is an important part of the party! Most wedding invitation companies have everything from engagement party invitations to a personalized wedding guest book in a matching theme and many other customizable stationery to meet your needs! And don’t shy away from asking friends and family for help with props, decorations, tables, and chairs!
