Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting events in the lives of both the bride and the groom. However, it can be as stressful as it is magical considering the amount of work that needs to be done.
Fortunately, the solution to the problem is just one call away. One call to a reputable wedding event organizer in your locality, that is. While you may leave the tiresome work to the capable hands of your trusted events planner, you still have a lot of things to think about and decide on before they can make your dream wedding a reality one year before your big day.
7 Things to Do 1 Year Before the Wedding
At this point of the wedding planning, the ball is still in your hands. From 16 to nine months prior to D-day, you need to accomplish seven important tasks, as follows:
1. Create a Wedding Folder
Be it a virtual or a physical one, having a wedding folder will help you get all your ideas for the wedding gathered in one place.
If you’re working with an actual folder, you can get cutouts from wedding magazines and paste them in individual pages. For a virtual one, downloading images online and saving articles about the different aspects of the event should be more than enough for your wedding organizer to get an idea of how you want your wedding to be done.
2. Determine Your Budget
Whatever your setup with your partner, talking about the budget early on will lessen, if not remove, the chances of going overboard with the planning. This will also help you identify how much each side can contribute to the budget and adjust your wedding plans accordingly.
3. Draft a Guest List
This is only a draft that will allow you to estimate the number of party favors and amount of food you will need to have prepared during the wedding reception. You also need this to decide on how big (or small) a venue you will need, as well as the number of tables and chairs needed to seat everyone comfortably.
4. Decide on a Wedding Date
If you haven’t decided on this already, it is recommended that you think of several dates for your wedding ceremony as certain circumstances may require you to change the date of your big day. The main thing is that your wedding date must be determined primarily on what you feel is the most perfect time for you and your partner to exchange vows.
5. Choose a Party Theme and Motif
This comes before the booking of the venue because there are places that won’t be able to accommodate some themes. Sunset weddings, for example, are best had at a beach while garden weddings should be in a place with lovely flora, and so on.
On top of that, having decided on the theme of the wedding early on will help your wedding organizer be more prepared about your specific requirements, like having fireflies flying around an evening fairytale-themed nuptial.
6. Book a Venue
Booking at least nine months prior to your big day removes any possibility that the wedding venue you have your eye on becomes fully booked. Your wedding planner can help you with this aspect since they have established connections with event suppliers and vendors over the years.
However, you should still make time to visit the place to ensure that it fits your preference. After all, it is your wedding that’s being planned.
7. Choose a Wedding Outfit
Women are at their most beautiful when they become a bride. Be it due to the stunning makeup or the glow she exudes because she is about to marry her soulmate, it is best to maximize this moment by choosing the right wedding gown.
Trying on several outfits wouldn’t hurt. After all, choosing the perfect bridal dress is like picking the right person to marry—it may not be the best of them all, but it will be the best for you.
Ready to Tie the Knot?
Getting hitched, tying the knot, or fulfilling a match made in heaven—no matter what you call it, the truth remains that this ceremony opens the door to the beginning of your new life as husband and wife.
Therefore, it is imperative that you make your nuptials as stress-free as possible without having to sacrifice the intricate details that make the wedding uniquely yours. Having a checklist of what you need to do and hiring the best wedding organizers will be a big help in making your dream wedding a reality.
